Ben Johns is the undisputed king of pickleball, a homeschooled kid from Laytonsville, Maryland who turned a casual backyard hobby into total world domination. He picked up a paddle in 2016 at age 17 and within a couple years was steamrolling everyone on tour. Johns studied materials science and engineering at the University of Maryland (3.81 GPA, because of course), which he now uses to literally design his own JOOLA signature paddles down to the molecular level. He plays for the LA Mad Drops in Major League Pickleball alongside Catherine Parenteau. With 150+ PPA titles, 15 Triple Crowns, and a 108-match singles winning streak, Johns has built a resume that reads like a video game glitch. Fun Fact
His table tennis backhand was literally shaped by a bookshelf. Growing up, the family played ping pong in a basement so tight that a bookshelf blocked his forehand side, forcing him to develop an absurdly good backhand that now terrorizes pickleball opponents.
